Week of 9/11/2017

Classrooms are busy with the sounds of learning. All students are now in their math and reading ability groups. The NWEA/MAP assessments are complete and parents will receive those results at conferences (or sooner by parent request).

Our PTO fundraiser, Twisted Penny, has begun. Students are very excited for their class to win one of the many prizes by having the most in their jar each day. Stop by and check it out!

The hot lunch program is running more smoothly, after some adjustment. I have heard from several students that the lunches taste pretty good. Jeffco. does have a new chef this year, so perhaps your students would like to try some hot lunches this year. Pizza is offered every Wednesday. The calendar for October went home yesterday.

Enjoy our new web page and look for teacher updates within the next week.

As we complete our last week of the school year I wanted to say thank you to all our students, parents, and staff for making this year such a great success!

With heavy hearts we say goodbye to three wonderful talents, Mrs. Schaefer, Mrs. Willis, and Mrs. DeAndrea. We wish them the best of luck in all they do.

Have a wonderful summer and see you in August.

Update 3/13/2017

Good Afternoon,

Our students are working hard to stay awake and our teachers are using many movement breaks today to keep them alert and learning. Daylight Savings Time seems to have the biggest effect on our students, they miss that extra sleep and it's so difficult to go to bed when its still daylight.

Don't forget Parent/Teacher Conferences are next week. You should have received your sign-up genius this past Friday. There is no school next Thursday or Friday.

Have a wonderful Spring Break!

Update 3/2/2017

Happy March!
Today our younger students celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday. Did you know that he was declined by publishers 29 times before they accepted his first book? Talk about perseverance!
As our students persevere through Spring Fever we are reminding them to finish this session strong.
Some reminders:
Literacy Day March 22nd
Parent/Teacher Conferences March 23rd ,24th
Spring Break week of March 27th.

Update Week of 2/21

Good Morning,

Hopefully you were able to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather we had this past weekend, and enjoyed a three day weekend too.
We are busy closing out the end of February and looking forward to March.
March gets very hectic around here! We have Daylight Savings time, Parent/Teacher conferences (look for your sign-up genius), Literacy Day, and then finally Spring Break.
After that the year just flies by, so hold on we are approaching the home stretch.

Update 2/6/2017

What beautiful weather we are expecting this week. Then....I am sure the cold returns. Please make sure students are aware of the forecast as they leave for school each morning. We do go outside if the temperature is at least 20 degrees.

After we return from Spring Break we will begin the Spring assessment cycle. Our PARCC testing will begin on April 4th. Our PTO has graciously offered to provide snacks for the students so look for that sign-up genius. Last year our students and school scored on the Performance level but with low participation. Our school gets flagged for low participation and we, as a school, do use the data for instructional purposes. When students do not test we are missing valuable data. So, please consider having your student take the assessment this year if they opted out last year.

Have a wonderful week!

Update 1/20/2017

Happy Friday!

Our students are now back in the groove of learning and have nine days of instruction since our Winter Break.
Reading groupings are going well and students are getting more valuable time with their teachers during each Literacy Block.
Today we had our second Character Assembly of the year. Students in grades K-8 were nominated by their teachers for showing exemplary Respect. Those students are invited to our Board Meeting on February 7th at 6:30 to lead the Pledge. Our students show such great character it is always difficult for the teachers to pick just one, we truly are blesses to work with your children so, thank you!
Have a wonderful weekend.
